The proposed kindergarten is centrally located in the city of Kranj, surrounded by lush old trees, creating a park-like atmosphere. The compact, two-story design of the building was chosen to preserve all the existing trees on the site. The floorplan is organized with the playroom area facing south, while the administration section and common spaces are positioned towards the north. Connecting these spaces is an indoor double-height atrium, serving as a versatile gymnasium and event space.
The construction design of the kindergarten is rational, utilizing load-bearing walls and plates made of cross-laminated wood panels without additional reinforcements. The use of construction wood is also showcased in the interior. The exterior facade features continuous terraces that extend outward, providing outdoor play areas for children and a seamless connection to the surrounding nature.
