The existing design of the Oton Župančič Library is based on an open plan layout, integrating individual functional sections within it. The project aimed to reduce the number of workstations and introduce three self-service book vending machines. The new design prioritized clarity, readability, intuitive movement, and user organization.
Our goal was to incorporate an element that would update the space's design while harmonizing with the library's existing geometry, color scheme, and materials. The new desk element is designed as a flexible modular unit with prominent oak wood partitions that extend into the dividers of the workstations.
